Monat Pyramid Scheme: Are Monat Products Safe For Users? Health Experts Weigh In

With over 1,100 complaints submitted to the Better Business Bureau (BBB) about the detriment of Monat Global products, and consumer litigations filed against the company, members of the general public want health experts to determine if Monat’s hair care products are safe for use.

Apart from the complaints and negative reviews, an FDA inspection of Monat’s production facility in Florida indicates that the company’s products are manufactured under unhealthy conditions – with the products posing health risks to consumers. The FDA report states that Monat’s products are “prepared, packed, or held under insanitary conditions whereby it may have become contaminated with filth” and thereby unsuitable for cosmetics use.

Meanwhile, an independent analysis of ingredients used in Monat’s shampoo products is unsafe and dangerous for health. The review of the ingredients used in the company’s shampoos and other cosmetic products shows that they are below federal standards and fatal for use. Many of these ingredients have been fingered in cases of redness, swelling, itching, and fluid-filled blisters among other skin irritations and hair loss.

The reviewer on I Read Labels For You advised Monat’s affiliates that “if you are a seller of Monat products, please know that there are many other multi-level marketing companies with non-controversial products that you can sell and generate an income for your family”.

Numerous Monat users have voiced their complaints about the company’s products. This is apart from those submitted to the BBB, the FDA, and several other regulatory and online forums. Most of these complaints range from scalp sores, bald spots, falling hair, skin irritations, and unsavory itchings among others. Many of these complaints have resulted in almost 20 lawsuits and several class-action lawsuits.

Dana Sohovich, a Monat product user in San Diego who suffered terrible hair loss after using the company’s products said “I literally had almost a baseball-size of hair in my hand. It’s devastating.”

An Indianapolis mother, Jessica Deetz, revealed her daughter had most of her hair fall off after using Monat’s products. According to Deetz, “She’s lost three-fourths of it. Her hair is breaking off. I found massive amounts of hair – that were concerning – in her crib”.

Heather Fox, a Phoenix resident said she was disappointed with using the company’s products. According to her, “It was supposed to strengthen your hair. It was an expensive product and I thought it would help my hair,” said Phoenix resident Heather Fox. “But instead, I’m devastated.”

A former Monat’s affiliate, Erin Ostby, said she discontinued promoting and using the company’s products when lots of consumers began to complain and she equally experienced “significant hair loss or thinning and other complications such as itching, scalp irritation, sores, and cystic acne after using Monat products.

I cannot sell something that does this to women, men, and children. It was extremely hard to deal with. My dad used to always say I was like Samson from the Bible — I got my power from my hair. So it was really upsetting and I couldn’t do that to someone else.”

So are Monat’s hair care products still safe for users? The answer appears to be “No” at the moment based on lots of customer complaints, lawsuits, government discreditation, and affiliates’ worrisome problems.
